About

THE GLIDE group

At the Glide Group our Philosophy is to maintain, protect
and restore health. We analyse your body holistically. We are methodical and considerate of your individual needs.

WHAT DOES A PODIATRIST DO?

Podiatrists are university qualified practitioners that are devoted to the investigation, diagnosis, rehabilitation, treatment and management of all foot and lower limb health conditions and concerns.

After you present your concern, we will develop a plan suitable for your needs. This may involve one off treatments or a goal focused treatment and management plan that could include regular general treatments, further biomechanical analysis, orthotic therapy, foot mobilisation and exercise program and footwear prescription.

If required, referral to other specialists may be required for a multidisciplinary approach for your concerns.

MEET YOUR PRINCipal PODIATRIST

Christina O’Brien has been practicing as a Podiatrist since 2009. She has worked in a variety of settings including private practice, community health, high risk foot clinics, renal dialysis units and domiciliary work.

She is also a member of the Australian Podiatry Association (APodA), where she has had a role as media spokesperson for the promotion of Podiatry, and member of Sports and Exercise Podiatry Australia (SEPA).

Christina’s passion is educating her patients on the importance of prioritising their foot health to improve their quality of life. So often she sees people living with foot pain and problems, thinking that they are just a part of their life when they don’t have to be!

She will carefully and considerately listen to her patient’s individual concerns, and then enjoy the process of developing a treatment plan customised to suit their individual needs.

Her skills include treatment and management in:

  • Problematic toe-nails, calluses, corns.
  • Wart treatment.
  • Ingrown toe-nails.
  • Diabetic foot assessment and management.
  • Biomechanical assessment - including gait (walking) analysis, join range of motions
  • studies and muscle testing.
  • Custom orthotic prescription.
  • Paediatric assessment
  • Keryflex® – the application of a custom made flexible, semi-permeable toe-nail that is excellent in disguising prior trauma or a condition that may have led to the nail’s appearance to have been affected.

Christina has also participated in specific training for Foot Mobilisation and Manipulation therapies. This is a specific therapy that can help “unlock” jamming and tightness in the joints of the foot allowing for more functional movement. She has also trained to be able to administer Dry Needling Therapy which can reduce trigger points in the muscles and get you moving again pain free.

Christina would love to help you move efficiently, functionally and free from pain. Call The Glide Group on (02) 8814 1902 for an appointment today
